What is The Innkeeper?

A title borrowed from the proprietor of an inn, The Innkeeper is, in the most literal sense, a keeper of inns. It's a place dedicated to properties with a point of view—from inns and boutique hotels to guesthouses and small-scale stays—all editor-approved.

Inns is the directory. Black Books is a series of destination guides anchored by those same properties. Etc. is everything else: essays, lists, openings, industry news, and beyond.

Who’s the editor?

My name’s Annie Davidson Watson, and I’m a magazine editor-turned-founder based between Boston and Nantucket.

I started my career in New York, earning my stripes (and losing my sleep) in the fashion closets at Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle before becoming an editor at Glamour, Departures, and Travel & Leisure.

When I traded New York for New England, I continued writing for national publications, and founded two Nantucket-based businesses: a brand and local storefront called Steplane, and an editorial platform called Little ACK Book.

I’m perpetually in pursuit of the people, places, and things that expand the way we live, which, you’ll find, is the throughline in all of my work.
